“It is through maximum use of random forms and motions that art can begin to convey available information. The random in art is also a powerful catalyst in social change.”
-Gustav Metzger from ‘Auto destructive art’
David works within the field of conceptual art to interrogate western empirical notions of nomenclature, measurement and taxonomy. A distinguishing characteristic of his digital practice is allowing the workings and processes employed in the creation of generative collages to be exposed, forming a key element of the final composition. In this way, the spectator can observe the intuitive, fragmented and often discursive processes at play in acts of creativity. The aim of this approach is to challenge general expectations of linear and hierarchical structures as the dominant methodologies underpinning digital creation.
