MA Project: Elevated Transcendence
Macshella offers a womenswear collection of bespoke, detail oriented, and sophisticated fashion knitwear. Her aesthetic consists of combining knitwear with leather using domestic and industrial knitting machines. The collection includes opulent knit dresses, separates, and an unexpected approach to evening wear. She fuses circular motifs with strips of knit and leather and incorporates strength and stability into her designs.
Born and raised in New York, Macshella was captivated by architecture at an early age. The integration of various materials being used to create a structure that is seen from a distance communicates what it stands for. Macshella admires and celebrate women for what they stand for; a combination of strength and grace. This inspiration has led the collection.
Macshella graduated from Fashion Industries High School (2005) before progressing on to the Fashion Institute of Technology (2010) where she attained her Associates degree in Fashion Design. To build upon her knowledge and skills she attended Politecnico Di Milano (2012) where she first learned knitwear and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design- Knitwear focused.
Macshella Oduro degree show work has been featured in the Washington Post. She received the prestigious Oscar de la Renta Fashion Scholarship through FIT New York.
